The Actors Centre is proud to announce the participating productions in their next season of the John Thaw Initiative, in association with Actor Awareness. The season will run from January to March 2019, and comprise 21 productions over 40 performance dates.
The John Thaw Initiative offers a platform for artists to take creative risks and achieve vital feedback with work still in development without any financial pressure. Previous seasons have included the Mental Health Season, where each show explored an area of mental health, and was followed by a discussion and Q&A with invoted guests; the Graduate Season, which selected the very best submisisons from students graduating from drama schools across the country, and gave many of these actors their first professional credit; and most recently, the Blacktress UK season, offering opportunities exclusively for women of the African diasopra, and curated in association with the fabulous Blacktress UK.
The Actors Centre is a place where diversity and creativity is celebrated and supported – and this season has been curated to support Working Class artists, who often struggle to find opportunities in the industry that aren’t financially crippling. Every participant in this season’s Initiative identifies as Working Class, and each piece explores the theme of ‘class’.
The season has been curated in association with Actor Awareness – an organisation created to address the imbalance of opportunity and representation for Working Class artists in the performing arts. You can read more about their vital work HERE.
WORKING CLASS STORIES runs from 3rd January to 30th March 2019. All tickets are £7 standard, £5 concession. Please see below for further information on each production.
