Our Projects

The TBT is a venue for new work, work in progress and groundbreaking experiments. We support emerging artists and work in development through the Midnight Matinees and Ignition.

Ignition

Ignition is unique in British theatre. We ask our chosen theatre artists, "Who would inspire you to take a risk, bend some rules, break some new ground?" Then we light the fuse and wait to see what happens.

The result is a week of brilliant new work, created from scratch by the most exciting writers, actors and directors in dream combinations.

Ignition 2009 saw the generation of 9 new pieces of theatre. Contributers included Jack Thorne, Hamish Pirie, Gareth Farr, John Hoggarth, Jon Cooper, Sam Miller, Tim Price, Polly Findlay, Che Walker, Omar Lyefook, Lydia Adetunji, Laura Farnworth, Kenny Emson, Laura Kriefman, Gbolohan Obisesan, Ria Parry, Tim Cowbury and Alice Lacey.

Midnight Matinees

The Midnight Matinees happen once a month at Midnight. They are a theatrical event that take over an entire building. These monthly midnight happening showcase, develop and test new work from some of the most innovative practitioners in London and the UK. Recommended in Time Out's top things to do in 2009, the Midnight Matinees are a unique experience and a great night out.

We welcome submissions from artists working in performance, dance, cabaret and new media. As these events are incredibly unique we recommend that you come along to one and see if the format would be right for your work. Then please get in contact tbtinfo@actorscentre.co.uk
